JRI Privacy Policy
JRI helps drivers plan routes and navigate. This policy describes information used by the app, the services that receive it, optional sharing, and your choices. We do not sell your personal information, display advertising, or use your information for cross-app advertising tracking. JRI does not operate its own advertising or behavioral analytics system. Mapping and other service providers process information as described below.
Location, searches, routes and fuel
With your permission, JRI uses your location for maps, nearby search, route starts, navigation, arrival detection, fuel searches and optional sharing. Location may be precise or approximate, depending on your iPhone settings. During an active drive, location can continue to be used in the background. You can change location permission and Precise Location in iPhone Settings.
Google Places: search text, selected place identifiers, and an available location bias are sent to Google to find places and retrieve details such as an address or business hours. The location bias can contain precise coordinates; it is not limited to an approximate area.
HERE: route requests include start, stop and destination coordinates, relevant times, route preferences and, when configured, vehicle dimensions, weight and restrictions. Fuel searches send the search area, fuel preferences and station identifiers. A reroute can use your current location.
Mapbox: the app requests map content for the area displayed. Its SDK processes connection, device, identifier, usage and diagnostic information to provide and operate its services. JRI disables optional Mapbox metrics collection at startup; this does not prevent map requests, operational or billing-related processing. Mapbox's SDK privacy disclosures also cover location, usage and performance information.
National Weather Service: when the weather feature requests a forecast, a location is sent to api.weather.gov to retrieve local forecast information.
Online services receive connection information such as an IP address and request time. Providers may retain request logs and operational data for security, billing, reliability and service improvement under their policies. An address or destination you enter can identify a home, business or other sensitive place.
Optional Friends and Just Routed sharing
Basic route planning does not require a Friends account. If you use Friends, JRI creates an anonymous service account with an assigned identifier. Pairings connect that account with people you approve. The service therefore holds account and pairing information, even if you do not provide an email address or real name. JRI does not upload your iPhone address book.
Sharing can include a display name and live location. Separately approved Just Routed sharing can include selected itinerary, stop names and addresses, route geometry, timing, progress, location and vehicle or fuel details. Review the sharing explanation before approving a viewer. Shared content is encrypted on the sending device for the approved recipient. The Supabase relay stores encrypted content and operational metadata, including account identifiers, pairing status, public keys, timestamps, delivery receipts and usage limits.
Sharing is optional. Stop or revoke it in the app to prevent further authorized updates. This cannot recall information a recipient has already received, copied or exported.
Subscriptions and Apple
Apple processes subscription purchases. JRI uses Apple's verified transaction information on your device to determine access and restore purchases. JRI does not receive your payment-card number or Apple Account password. Use JRI's subscription controls or Apple subscription settings to manage or cancel a subscription. Deleting a Friends account or deleting JRI does not cancel an Apple subscription.
Information kept on your device
JRI stores trip state, stops and their order, user-entered labels, preferences, vehicle settings and saved-place references so you can continue using the app. Some place details are held only for the current session. Diagnostic routing records are stored locally. Friends account credentials and encryption keys are held in the device Keychain. Receiving devices can keep the shared history described below.
The camera is used to scan sharing codes. JRI does not upload camera images or save photos from that scan. Spoken navigation uses the device's speech output; JRI does not record your conversations.
Retention
- Google-derived coordinates cached by JRI expire after 30 days; a place identifier can remain for a later lookup. Google-provided names and addresses are not written into JRI's saved-place library. Information you explicitly share with a viewer is subject to the sharing retention below.
- Local routing-decision records are pruned on app activity to a 90-day window. Older coordinate fields are protected by the log's place-digest rules.
- Friends receiving history is limited to seven routes per driver, with location points aged out after seven days.
- For Just Routed, the sending queue retains unsent records for up to 24 hours. Relay records have a seven-day expiry and are removed by service cleanup; encrypted packets can be removed earlier after receipt. The viewer retains received history for up to 30 days. Stopping sharing does not erase a recipient's independent copies or exports.
- Expired or revoked pairing metadata is removed by scheduled cleanup after 30 days. Deleting a Friends account removes the account and associated live service records through the service's deletion process.
- Local preferences and saved items remain until you clear or remove them. Keychain credentials can survive uninstalling the app; use the in-app account deletion control before uninstalling if you want to delete your Friends account.
Service-provider logs, backups and legally required records may have separate retention periods under the providers' policies. The app's local retention limits are not a promise that every provider log or recipient copy is erased at the same time.
Your choices and deletion
- Change or revoke location and camera permissions in iPhone Settings.
- Use JRI's Clear and saved-place controls to remove trip or saved-place information.
- Stop sharing or remove a pairing in Friends. Use the in-app Delete Account control to request deletion of your Friends service account and associated records. A successful deletion also removes the app's local Friends credentials. If deletion fails, reconnect and retry; an error is not confirmation of deletion.
- Manage or cancel subscriptions with Apple. Privacy and account-deletion controls do not require a paid subscription.
- For access, correction or deletion questions, contact us below. Do not send passwords, payment-card numbers or private keys. We may need enough information to identify the relevant service account securely.
Service providers and their policies
- Google Privacy Policy and Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms.
- HERE Privacy Policy.
- Mapbox Privacy Policy and Mapbox telemetry information.
- Supabase Privacy Policy, for optional sharing.

Security and children
Network connections use encrypted transport. Optional shared payloads use end-to-end encryption; account and delivery metadata are not the same as encrypted payload content. No storage or transmission method is perfectly secure. JRI is intended for drivers and is not directed to children under 13.
